From Clutter to Clarity
A Research-Driven Navigation Overhaul
Problem Statement
Agents Hampered by Outdated Navigation
Licensed WFG agents struggled with a cluttered, complex portal navigation that made accessing essential tools slow and frustrating—especially on mobile—hampering productivity on the go.
User-Centered Discovery & Design
We began by thoroughly researching discoverability challenges through user interviews, stakeholder discussions, and card sorting to determine the optimal navigation structure for WFG agents. This research, combined with A/B testing and usability testing, uncovered critical pain points that shaped our design goals—focusing on simplifying navigation and enhancing mobile usability.
User Preference: Goal-Oriented Navigation
We tested two navigation concepts with users: one organized around broader goals like “Manage My Business” and “Grow My Business,” and another structured by specific tasks such as “Selling & Recruiting” and “Commissions & Reports.” Users clearly preferred the goal-oriented approach because it aligned better with how they think about their work and made it easier to find what they needed quickly. This approach reduces overwhelm by grouping related functions under meaningful objectives, improving overall usability and satisfaction.
A Modern Nav
The redesigned navigation embraces a modern, user-focused approach—organizing content around clear goals and intuitive groupings. By prioritizing what users want to achieve rather than just listing tasks, the new navigation reduces clutter and cognitive load. It’s optimized for both desktop and mobile, providing quick access to key tools and resources, and adapting seamlessly to the needs of today’s busy users.
